The masked bandit was detained by an animal control officer then released back into the wild after it sobered up
Liquor stores are often targets for break-ins and theft. But after a break-in at a Virginia package store, employees were shocked to realize that the culprit was a raccoon. The animal apparently consumed a variety of alcoholic beverages and then passed out in a drunken stupor in the bathroom.
According to apnews.com, the furry masked bandit broke into the closed Ashland ABC Store on Saturday, November 29, where it left behind smashed bottles, collapsed ceiling tiles and alcohol pooled on the floor.

The Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter authorities were called and proceeded to take the intruder into custody.
“I personally like raccoons,” said Samantha Martin, an officer with the local animal control. “They are funny little critters. He fell through one of the ceiling tiles and went on a full-blown rampage, drinking everything.”
In a social media post, officials said they took the "very intoxicated" raccoon back to the shelter to sober up before releasing it back into the wild.
"After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer," the Facebook post read.
