Maryland State Police Aviation Command airlifted a hunter to a local hospital after he fell 15 feet from his treestand, sustaining severe injuries.

According to wjla.com, the hunter fell from his stand on November 8, 2025, while hunting in Grene Ridge State Forest in Allegany County.

Rescue personnel were called to help the injured hunter around 12:30 pm. Due to the challenging terrain and the hunter’s severe injuries, the Maryland State Police Aviation Command was called in for assistance.

Emergency medical services and rescue teams provided initial care. A rescue technician was then lowered through the dense canopy to stabilize the patient before hoisting them into the aircraft. The victim was then transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.

An update on the extent of the hunter’s injuries has not been released.
