Iowa hunters and anglers will pay more for licenses beginning June 17.

According to OutdoorHub, the small increase, which will also hit other recreational licenses, is the first in nearly a decade.

Both hunters and fishermen in Iowa are set to see the new price adjustments take effect on June 17.

The Iowa Natural Resources Commission approved the price hike, the first since 2019, on April 9.

“No fee has been raised more than 5%, which is a maximum allowed by law,” said DNR Fisheries Chief Joe Larscheid.

The fee increases will be relatively modest compared to the original prices, but varied as a result of its percentage-based nature.

However, DNR officials say most licenses will only be increasing in price by about a dollar per year.

These increases, which will apply generally to hunting and fishing license prices, will also impact several specialty licenses.

The $14.50 resident trout fee is expected to increase slightly, and the lifetime hunting and fishing licenses for residents age 65 and older may increase by about $2.50.
