Realtree partner onX Hunt has joined forces with MeatEater and Three Rivers Land Trust in the Save Tuckertown campaign, and is asking for your help. The Tuckertown Reservoir, located in the rolling Piedmont region of central North Carolina, has provided 4,000 acres of public access to hunters, anglers, and outdoor recreationists for more than 60 years. Now, Alcoa, the company that has historically owned this ground and opened it to public access, is on the brink of selling it off to the highest bidder.

Three Rivers Land Trust is working to purchase lands on the Tuckertown Reservoir in an effort to keep these lands accessible to the public for recreation (as Gamelands), with the ultimate goal of transferring the ownership of these lands to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

“Public land access and stewardship is always on the front of our minds here at onX,” Lisa Nichols, senior corporate philanthropy and advocacy manager at onX, said. “Through our Adventure Forever Grant program, we are able to make an impact on the places we all cherish. We are so honored to partner with TRLT and MeatEater to help keep this treasured public access open for the people of North Carolina.”

The campaign is asking for support to keep these lands open to the public, to protect water quality, and to provide habitat to numerous wildlife species.

Thanks to $100,000 matching donations from both onX and MeatEater, every dollar given between April 14 and May 14 will be matched, up to $200,000, toward the goal of ensuring public access, conserving important wildlife habitat, and protecting water quality.

TRLT originally launched the Save Tuckertown Campaign on January 1, 2026. This project is being funded by onX's Adventure Forever Grant Program, and the MeatEater Land Access Initiative.
