Authorities are looking for the aggressive wild canine
Over the span of a few hours, a coyote attacked two people and a dog in New Jersey’s South Mountain Reserve.
The Essex County Sheriff’s Office reports the first attack involved a 13-year-old girl and a family member’s dog in the woods adjacent to the reserve’s dog park.
According to kktv.com, the report claims the coyote approached the girl and her cousin. It attacked the dog and then bit the girl’s leg. The girl was treated at the hospital for minor injuries, but the dog sustained significant injuries and was taken to an animal hospital.
The woman involved in the second attack was also taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities believe it was the same coyote in both attacks.
The dog park was closed for several days out of an abundance of caution.
Police say they are out looking for the coyote and will put it down if they locate it.
