The reptile pushed through her screen door
A woman got the shock of her life when she discovered an 8-foot alligator in her Venice, Florida, home last month.
According to WFLA, Mary Hollenback ran out to her lanai and called 911 after finding the gator in her house on March 28.
“An alligator just broke into my house through the screen door. I don’t know who to call,” Hollenback told dispatchers during her 911 call. “It came through the screen door and basically stopped there.”
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office quickly sent officers to Hollenback’s home.
“We have a burglary by an alligator and we’re going to help you with it,” the dispatcher told Hollenback.
Two deputies and three Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers arrived to help remove the gator from the home.
Hollenback said, “All my neighbors came out and were all talking about it, and it’s just become a really good story since then. I mean, this story just keeps growing and growing. My 15 minutes of fame,” she joked.
