Remarkable Game Camera Footage Shows Mountain Lion Killing Deer
Everyone hopes to capture amazing footage on their game camera. One California man's game camera filmed such a rare occurrence that even wildlife officials are fascinated.
Randy Spade's game camera recorded the moment a mountain lion attacked and killed a deer on a ranch in a small California town called French Gulch.
Spade told KRCR, "We just got lucky as far as being able to catch everything and have it perfectly framed. When I put the chip in the little pictures come up and I see the picture of the deer and a picture of the mountain lion, but I didn't know if I actually caught the [attack]," said Spade.
In the video, you can see the large cat sneak up behind the unsuspecting deer as it stands near a water-filled trough. The mountain lion suddenly pounces and grabs the deer as it leaps into the air. The cat quickly subdues the deer with a bite to the neck.
The ranch belongs to a family friend of Spade's who lets him place several cameras to capture footage of wild animals. Spade said this was not the first time he's seen mountain lions on his cameras.
The amazing video, which was published on June 5, 2017, has already received more than 65,000 views.
