Wisconsin hunters who want to learn more about bear hunting can apply for the Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) “Learn to Hunt Bear” program.

Vcnewsreveiw.com reports that those who are interested should apply for the program by May 1, 2025. They will be notified about their application by June 1, 2025.

Those who have not participated in the Learn to Hunt Bear program or received a bear harvest authorization are encouraged to apply. There’s no maximum age limit, but participants must be at least 10 years of age.

The program, which is geared to promote awareness and understanding of bear hunting, includes multiple classroom and field sessions, giving the participants hands-on learning of bear biology, population management, habits, habitat, hunting techniques, regulations and safety.

There’s also an opportunity to become an instructor. The DNR is also looking for experienced bear hunters for the position, with the number of instructors based on how many participants there are. More information for instructors can be found on the Learn to Hunt Bear webpage under “Learn to Hunt Bear Instructors.”
