2017 ATA Show Showcases New Realtree Backpacks
I spent today walking the floor at the the 2017 Archery Trade Association Show in Indianapolis, Indiana. As always, there were a ton of awesome products on display, but I had to stay focused. My job was to check out the latest and greatest in hunting backpacks. As you will see, there are a lot of great new packs hitting the market this year. Each of the packs you see below offers a set of features uniquely designed with specific hunting needs in mind. Need a pack to carry out your meat? Check. Want a pack to carry your bow or rifle to the field? Check. Want a small waist pack to carry just your essential items to and from the stand? Check. With so many diverse packs hitting the stores soon, you have no excuse not to have the perfect pack for your future hunting needs.
If you're looking for a great universal backpack, the ScentLok Rogue 2285 Backpack fits the bill. Carbon Alloy technology absorbs odor to ensure prey animals can't sniff you out, while the moisture-wicking inner lining ensures you stay dry and comfortable throughout your trek. Orange taffeta inner lining provides visibility in low-light conditions. Padded shoulder and waist straps offer a comfortable tote and three pockets with 2285 cubic inches of storage space allow you to tote all your essential items to the field.
We found waist packs a plenty on display at the show this year, but ScentLok's newest Trek Pack takes the waist pack to a new level. This pack does more than just tote your gear. Carbon Allow technology absorbs odor so game animals can't detect you, and the DWR finish sheds light moisture and polyester tricot fabric offers long-lasting durability.
The buckle-waist closure keeps the pack secure while the side strap pockets provide easy access on the go. The top pocket zipper opening offers large pocket access and the foldover front flap keeps gear protected. Mesh side pockets are perfect for carrying a water bottle.
Tenzing knows how to do packs as proven by its lineup of 2017 packs. The star of the show this year is the TX 15, the most versatile pack in the new TX series. This handy pack offers the storage of a large pack with the accessibility of a smallmodel. For simple and quick loading, the TX 15 utilizes a top-loading compartment with two front entry zippers so you can access your gear without having to unload your pack. The TX 15also includes a top lid compartment, two side pockets, front shove-it pocket and four compression straps.
The little details make the difference in this cool new waist pack by Tenzing. Designed for the treestand hunter, the Tenzing 7.2 is compact and easily accessible, featuring two main compartments and two side pockets along with seven organizational pockets. One of the neatest features is the cell phone compartment located at the top of the pack, which allows you to utilize your phone while it remains safely secured. Once you're in the stand, the TX 7.2 easily converts from a waist pack to a hand muff. You just swing the pack around to the front and stick your hands it to keep them warm and ready for action.
Not one detail was left to chance when it comes to the extremely well-designed MWP Bow Pack by In Sights. The "MWP" in the name stands for "Multi Weapon Pack," so it not only works for your compound bow, but for your rifle as well. The pack features a patented main weapon compartment and dual compression-molded gear shields to ensure your gun or bow is safely and securely toted to and from your setup. The H2O compatible pack featuers dual gear holsters and six total compartments for plenty of storage and toting space.
Just like the bow pack, the Crossbow Pack by In Sights is all about convenient use and superb protection. The In Sights Crossbow Pack helps take the worry out of your hunt with a design focused on protecting your crossbow from the wear and tear of the outdoors. The Crossbow pack features a main weapon carrier channel, dual compression-molded gear shields, MOLLE System and unique secondary cover pack. The H20-compatible pack includes five compartments for plenty of storage.
The Pro Hunter by Hunt Hard features an accessory that none of the other packs at the show include. The Pro Hunter has a built-in head carrier, which provides a safe and extremely handy way for packing a head, cape and antlers out of the field. In addition, this internal/external aluminum framed pack is designed to conform to your back, transferring weight to your hips. It also keeps you cool thanks to great ventilation. The frame incorporates a quick-attack Pack Pod that can be used for glassing, shooting or filming at a quarter of the weight.
The Pathfinder by Alps Outdoorz has been updated for 2017 to hold a bow or a rifle. The universal design features a wide variety of compound bows and the drop-down pocket carries your gun securely. The pack's carrying system is designed for packing out meat and extension lashing straps are included for extra large loads. One of the coolest features about this pack is that it expands into a day pack when more space is needed for those longer treks.
Like some of the other new waist packs we checked out, the Pioneer 400 RT Waist Pack by Vanguard offers an integrated handwarmer, but the Pioneer' 400 RT handwarmer can be removed from the pack for convenience. Plus the handwarmer featuers heat tabs to stick heat packs infor additional warmth. A big waist band provides extra comfort, while the orange main pouch zippers provide visibility in low-light conditions.
Crossbow, rifle, shotgun? No matter what you decide to hunt with, the Pioneer Realtree Xtra backpack by Vanguard can carry it. Although this pack is loaded with features, it maintains a slim profile without the bulk. A butterfly system fully encloses the gun or crossbow for full protection.
