The man is currently in jail and faces a number of criminal charges
A man, possibly suffering from mental illness, was arrested after he crashed his car outside a Bass Pro Shops in Leeds, Alabama, stripped naked, and jumped into the large aquarium inside the store.
According to Fox 59, police responded to the Bass Pro Shops location just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 4.
Leeds Police Chief Paul Irwin said the man had intentionally struck a pole in the parking lot with his family in the car. Then he ran inside, took off all his clothes, and did a cannonball into the aquarium. He then stood under the waterfall before he climbed out, yelled at two officers, and dove back into the aquarium.
Then, when attempting to climb over the side of the aquarium’s glass wall, he fell to the concrete floor below, where police handcuffed him.
“It’s very unfortunate that people like this aren’t receiving the treatment they need,” Irwin said.
The man, who is currently being held in the St. Clair County Jail, is charged with public lewdness, disorderly conduct, assault in the second degree, resisting arrest, two counts of reckless endangerment, and two counts of criminal mischief.
