Case Study
In 2022, Immersion Graphics played an integral role in an incredibly unique on-field activation in conjunction with Realtree and Ole Miss. Showcasing exclusive helmets decorated with custom Realtree camo patterns, Immersion Graphics, the hydrographic film experts, played a crucial role in bringing this incredibly unique design to life on the field against Kentucky, in an SEC marque football matchup.
The Rebels’ gameday wardrobe featured exciting new gear with Realtree designs, with the on-field helmet serving as the centerpiece for the gameday weekend . Hoodies and Nike tees were just a few of the many available pieces commercialized to activate the on-field collaboration through Ole Miss Authentics, the official team shop, operated by Dyehard Fan Supply. Fans purchased these items at shop.olemisssports.com, the Oxford store on Jackson Avenue, and at stadium and campus locations, including a special Realtree trailer in the west plaza. In addition to helmets, the limited-edition game and color scheme included accessories such as tumblers, watch bands, earbud cases, and additional hard goods. Uniswag crowned the helmet itself the "Helmet of the Year" for 2022.
Realtree founder and Ole Miss alum Bill Jordan, who played wide receiver for the Rebels in the early 1970s, conceptualized the helmet design while reviewing various Realtree programs. The helmet featured a custom color adaptation of Realtree’s pattern WAV3, dynamically tying in with Ole Miss uniforms and school colors.
Bill Jordan shared his excitement: “Our team at Realtree are big sports fans, and college football is a favorite topic. Ole Miss holds a special place in my heart. As we reviewed Realtree programs, the idea hit us – what if we offered Ole Miss a Realtree pattern for their helmets? We have access to Immersion Graphics and we know the quality and reputation that comes with the film. The concept became a reality by way of the film!”
Discussions with Ole Miss Athletics, including Vice Chancellor Keith Carter and head coach Lane Kiffin, quickly advanced the idea. “We loved this idea from the minute we heard about it,” said Carter. “Despite challenges with lead times for we often encounter wit equipment, the teamwork between Immersion Graphics, Realtree and our athletics staff was tremendous. We were thrilled to launch this partnership.”
Kiffin echoed the excitement: “Our players and coaches were excited to partner with Realtree and wear this unique helmet and gear. We appreciate all the support from the Realtree team.”
Tyler Jordan, Realtree’s Strategic Business Director and Ole Miss graduate, expressed his pride: “Seeing the company my dad founded represented on the helmets is incredibly cool. This collaboration is special for us, and it was really fun to showcase how the camo film could promote our brand and really create a unique experience on the field, unlike anything anyone has ever really seen.”
With the success of the 2022 debut using Immersion Graphics film, the custom helmets have become somewhat of a tradition for Ole Miss, with each of the following seasons including a game to showcase the custom helmets. In 2024, a new scheme will be unveiled, and Immersion Graphics is actively working to help debut the new helmets for the fall!
