Three Illinois waterfowl hunters were injured when a propane tank exploded in their blind while they were duck hunting near the confluence of the Illinois and Missouri rivers in the Calhoun Point area, near Pierre Marquette State Park.

KSDK.com reports that first responders rescued the injured men and transported two by helicopter to St Louis area hospitals. The third man was also treated for injuries.

According to republicangazette.com, a man suffered head and neck injuries caused by shrapnel and a juvenile sustained lacerations to the head.

Officials have not released the names of the victims.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office are both investigating the cause of the propane explosion.
