Video Shows Woman Taking Selfie With Bison in Yellowstone National Park

Posted 2023-06-19  by  Stephanie Mallory

Bison kill more people in the park than any other animal, including grizzlies

Video footage shows a tourist putting her safety at risk just for a cool selfie while visiting Yellowstone National Park.

In the video, you see the woman standing just a foot or two away from the bison, which was lying on the ground chewing cud. She extends her arm and uses her phone to take photos of herself with the large beast. Fortunately for her, the bison did not get aggressive, but it could have seriously injured or killed her in a matter or seconds.

Park officials continuously warn the public not to approach bison and other wildlife in the park, but the tourists continue to press their luck.

The bison easily could have gored or trampled the woman. And the animal would then have to be euthanized. In fact, scores of people have been injured and a few have even been killed by bison in the park. A simple YouTube search reveals a number of videos showing bison attacking people who got too close.

Bison have injured more people than any other animal in the park. That’s why the National Park Service says people should stay at least 25 yards from the large animals.
