A viral video shows the moment a snake bites a man in the face.
What's worse than getting bitten by a snake? How about getting bitten by a snake in the face and having the video footage of the incident go viral? That's exactly what happened to one unfortunate man earlier this week.
According to Fox 8, Jerel Heywood was visiting his friend Rodney Copeland's home on Sunday in Lawton, Oklahoma, when the unthinkable occurred.
As you can see in the video, when Heywood opens the screen door, the snake, which was wrapped around a porch light, strikes out and bites the shocked man in the face before retreating.
Heywood's first thought? I got bit by a snake. Didn't know what kind it was, he said. Have to get to the hospital.
Copeland said he watched in horror as his friend stumbled through the door, shouting and clutching his face.
I was in shock, Copeland said. That could've been anyone of us.
Copeland and his wife took Heywood to the hospital, where he was treated for the non-venomous snake bite.
No stitches, thankfully, but they cleaned me up pretty good, Heywood said. I am on antibiotics.
The snake didn't fare as well
When Heywood started screaming, so did Copeland's wife. Their cries attracted their neighbor, who brought over a hammer that he used to kill the snake.
Copeland said it was the first time he found a snake in his home. He thinks the 5-foot-5-inch snake was taking refuge from recent heavy rains.
How would you have handled this situation?
