Thief Caught on Camera Stealing Deer from Alabama Wild Game Processor
Imagine taking a nice buck – one that you're just thrilled about – only to have someone steal it from the game processor a couple of days later. That's what happened to Alabama hunter Wade Bowen, and it was all caught on video.
According to waff.com, Bowen took the buck to Smith's Processing in Rainsville, Ala., a couple of days after Christmas.
"I was excited, fired up," Bowen said about shooting the deer. "Like you won a football game."
But, a few days later, employees discovered that the deer was gone, and only a tag was left on the floor.
They called me and said, 'We need you to come over here; I think somebody's got your deer,' Bowen said.
Luckily, video footage of the thief was caught on the building's security camera. After posting the video on Facebook, the police began receiving calls, which lead them to David Wells of Fyffe who had actually posted a photo of the stolen trophy buck on his own Facebook page.
Wells was arrested last Monday night and charged with burglary. He confessed during questioning.
It has not been revealed why Wells stole the deer, but police say they were only able to recover the head, which Bowen plans to have mounted. No doubt, Bowen is disappointed to not have the meat from his prize deer as well.
What do you think Well's punishment for stealing the deer should be?
